Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about this template.

What is a room cleaning control template for?

It organises the daily housekeeping work: which rooms are departures, stayovers, urgent arrivals, blocked or awaiting inspection; who cleans each room; when it needs to be ready; and which issues are still open. In hotels it stops the front desk, housekeeping and supervisors duplicating work.

Which fields should a room cleaning report include?

Record the date, floor, room number, type of service, priority, initial status, assigned room attendant, target time, finish time, supervisor inspection, issues, amenities restocked, minibar, notes and final status. The template includes these fields so every shift can be traced.

Does it work for holiday apartments or only hotels?

It also works for holiday apartments, guesthouses, rural cottages and any accommodation with guest turnover. You can adapt the room columns to apartment, unit, building or zone, and use the priority field to coordinate early check-ins, late check-outs and cleans with maintenance pending.

How does it help the front desk and maintenance?

The front desk can see which rooms are clean, inspected, blocked or pending before assigning an arrival. Maintenance gets issues with the room, priority and description, avoiding repeated calls or incomplete reports. The history helps you spot rooms with recurring problems.

How often should I update the room control sheet?

Ideally at the start of the shift with departures, arrivals and priorities; during service whenever a room becomes clean or inspected; and at the end to hand over outstanding issues. In busy hotels, operations software cuts down on calls, keeps statuses in one place and lets you check rooms in real time.
